Elafonisi

Elafonisi island is near the southeast tip of Crete 43 km from Kastelli and 76 km from Chania. A lovely islet ,which is known as the "Malvides" of the east. An amazing beach with crystal clear turquoise water and a captivating landscape. This idyllic lagoon is visited by thousands of tourists every summer. The blue water is so clean and shallow that you may walk to the opposite isle.

This natural, near pristine beach, with its pure white sandbars and natural islet, remains virtually untouched. In 1824 during the Turkish occupation about 850 women and children were slaughtered by Imbraim’s soldiers. The only thing that reminds you this is a marble slab (memorial plaque) on the top of the island.
